Low Carb Diet & Exercise

Dr. Dukan in the Dukan Diet expects you to exercise.  Nothing crazy, you need not join a gym nor need you get up a sweat. No all you need to do is to go for a 20 minute walk every day. That isn’t much is it? I think most of us might even enjoy that.

All the low carb diets require you to do some exercise but you will not be able to do a lot of vigorous exercise when you are short of carbs. That is why walking or something similarly gentle is suggested.

Just a brisk walk and you will benefit from it. Now it is pretty obvious isn’t it that exercise will use up calories and calories use your fat because that is just about the only source of easily available energy while you are  eating the low carb way. This is true for all the low carb diets not just the Dukan method.

You Could Walk On An Elliptical Cross Trainer

Now if walking isn’t something you are able to do there has to be an alternative. He doesn’t give you one but I will. I use an elliptical cross trainer myself. These machines are very gentle and you can go at walking speed on them. They feel comfortable to use and when you have your iPod or the TV or radio for company time speeds by.

Wii Fit Is  Gentle Exercise & Fun Too

If you don’t want to spring for a home exercise machine then another option that may suit you is the Wii Fit. I have this and it is good fun. The exercise is very easy to start you off and their are some games too.  When you buy Wii fit you will need to buy the Nintendo Console if you do not already have it. Wii includes Yoga, strength training, cardio and balance exercises.

One thing about doing all this is you will feel so good about yourself. You really will.  After the misery of failure this is a wonderful feeling- like a natural high. So don’t be lazy you can do at least one of these things can’t you?

It isn’t the exercise though that makes the Dukan Diet different. It is really the whole philosophy and understanding of the problem of putting on too much weight. Then also of course it is special because the diet doesn’t end when you reach goal. You have to keep going as he directs so that this weight never comes back.
